For a long time it had seemed to
me that life was about to begin--
real life. But there was always
some obstacle in the way,
something to be gotten through
first, some unfinished business,
time still to be served, a debt to
be paid. Then life would begin.
At last it dawned on me that
these obstacles were my life.
-- Alfred D. Souza
The tragedy of life is
not that it ends
so soon, but that we
wait so long to begin it.

Just wonderful. Another sadness is that we don't realize how quickly the vitality of youth goes away and to use it to its fullest while we can. : )
OMG the Souza quote is me all over the place. Wow, it's so true. Thanks for posting this. It is certainly a eye-opener.
