I am often asked how I keep a positive attitude even while things on occasion will crumble in around me. It is not always easy to accomplish this feat, but the lesson is easily learned.
I am a very average person born into a very average middle class family. I was not born to be that perky little person (PLP) who bounces out of bed in morning, talking incessantly and getting on everybody's nerves. But I often envied those perky little happy people who would show their perky little happy faces every now and again.
Growing up, no one in my house was a PLP. We were all average. So of course I didn't meet these PLP's until my boundaries started widening, and I attended school. Occasionally there would be a teacher who was a PLP, but more often there would be at least one PLP in my class. Of course if there were more than one, they had a tendency to gravitate towards each other. Soon one could see little pods of PLPs all over the schoolyard.
It didn't take long to acknowledge that the PLPs were going to be the leaders not the followers. They soon held student body positions, became cheerleaders, captains of football teams and the list goes on and on.
The PLP's were not all made out of the same mold either. They all had their own thoughts and beliefs. But the one thing they all had in common was a POSITIVE ATTITUDE!
This my friends, is what I have been leading you all over the north forty for. Did you think that you were lost for an instant?
My whole point is this: Some lucky people are born perky little people with wonderfully positive attitudes. The rest of us must learn to develop ours. It's much like being an artist. Some people are born with a God given talent, while others must develop theirs.
It's a choice! I learned to develop my attitude. I chose to be around positive people. I chose to feed myself full of positive affirmations daily. In fact, I am so positive about this that I have a particular website send me an affirmation daily, both at home and at the office. I pass the affirmation on to those I live and work with.
Please check it out. I'm sure that you will find inspiration and positive fuel to feed yourselves.
Perky little people are welcomed too!

I enjoyed reading about the PLP people. I somewhat experinenced that this morning arriving at the lunchroom at work. That is where everyone gathers to clock in. It was full of people, mainly women. I came in and happily said "Good Morning!" By the way it was 10am. You could of heard a pin drop. So I happily said, " To hell with you all!" Then by golly they all spoke up! LOL

Congrats on #1 Journal of the week! How exciting! Well, I'm not a PLP...I get excited about things...but I tend to have to work at thinking and seeing more positively...its a good trait to work on but I'm not sure that PLP is where I'm headed in the end even :)

Congrats on #1 journal of the week. That is awesome!!! I am not a PLP. I never have been and probably never will be. Although, I try to remain positive even though life is not always easy. I haven't always been this way. I thank God for the change in my attitude several years ago. He was able to knock the chip off my shoulder and help me discover life is much better with a good attitude!! I have enjoyed reading your journal and will continue to read it.
I aam just seting up my journal and read your first entry. I guess I am one of those PLP. It is nothing that I worked on it just hapened that way. I wake up befdore the alarm clock, and my idea of a fantasy vacation would be to be able to sleep in until 9am. My husband said one time, he woould just like to "smack" me because I am so chipper in the morning. But on the other hand about 9pm I really fizzle out.
THANKS FOR SHARING THE WEBSITE OFFERING POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS. LIKE YOU, I SURROUND MYSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN GOD, IN ME, IN MY DREAMS; PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD. I GET ASKED THAT QUESTION A LOT TOO; HOW DO YOU ALWAYS LAND ON YOUR FEET WHEN YOUR LIFE IS SO FULL OF PROBLEMS RIGHT NOW. AS WE KNOW IT IS CHOICE. EVERYTHING IN LIFE COMES DOWN TO THAT. GREAT JOURNAL. I WILL BE BACK AGAIN.. Barbpinon
I'm a PLP and the awful thing that happens to me is I will be in a great mood trying to think positive and people around me will try and break me down and put me in a bad/negative mood. that is depressing. Misery loves company. not that I have a great fantastic life, this is just my nature to see the good in everything. Jesus tried to help the negative people, 'The Sermon on the mount' I try listen to and follow these gentle loving words in my life.
The power of positive thinking is remarkable. I have to admit, however, that some of those PLP's get on my last nerve...
I am trying to lose weight. I am going to fail! Everybody hates me!
Most days I'm positive, but I'm not a PLP, I'm human and have good days and bad days. I strive for compassion, empathy and understanding to those less positive or less perky and help spread positive around.
Bravo! Attitude is everything. It makes or breaks you for sure. Whether you are perky or not. And who really cares if we are? No one. They are all too busy seeing what you think of THEM. If I have ended up as one of those though, kindly do me in. Thanks and congrats!
